Day 3: The Life Cycle of a Coffee Bean and You
Dear friends,
There are mornings when despair tries to whisper louder than hope. Last night was one of those nights for me — the thoughts of giving up felt heavy. But this morning, I chose again to listen to the Voice of Truth.
The Bible says: “Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness” (Lamentations 3:21–23). That means even after the hardest nights, we wake to new mercy, new grace, and the possibility of hope rising again.
The song Voice of Truth asks: What giant is standing and taunting you today? We all have them — the voice of fear, shame, despair, or even the memory of past failures. But the Word of God says: Do not be afraid. The giant may roar, but truth speaks louder.
Just like a coffee bean, we are shaped by the fire and the crushing. Picked, roasted, ground, and pressed — that’s the process that brings out the strength. And when I think of my own journey — rebuilding my home in Smithville, hearing my kids’ laughter in the backyard, standing up for my value — I remember: I am not defined by what tried to break me. I am defined by the God who restores me.
Today, I choose life over death. I choose hope over despair. And I choose to listen to the Voice of Truth.
