Day 5: I Still Believe Despite Everything

Daily HOPE Verse

“…but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.”

— Isaiah 40:31 (NIV)

Reflection

Dear friends,   Today I want to open with something I wrote in my journal:

“Lord, I feel faint. I feel like running. I wasn’t heard today, and it hurt.”

That’s the raw truth of trauma recovery. Some days, the weight of despair makes you want to run away, hide, or simply give up. There are moments when you feel invisible, ignored, or dismissed — when your pain doesn’t seem to matter to the people around you.

But even when others fail to hear us, God does not turn away.

He whispers into the storm: “Be still. I will fight for you.”

Scriptures 📖

  • Psalm 31:21–24 (NIV)
“Praise be to the Lord, for he showed his wonderful love to me when I was in a besieged city. In my alarm I said, ‘I am cut off from your sight!’ Yet you heard my cry for mercy when I called to you for help. Love the Lord, all his saints! The Lord preserves the faithful, but the proud he pays back in full. Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the Lord.”

  • Exodus 14:13–14 (NIV)
“Moses answered the people, ‘Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.’”

  • Psalm 139:11 (NIV)
“If I say, ‘Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,’ even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you.”

These verses remind us that God’s love breaks through even in the darkest places. His strength sustains us when ours fails, and His light always outshines the darkness.

5 Brave Tips for Day 5 🌱

  1. Pause instead of running – When you feel the urge to flee, take a breath and invite God to fight for you.

  2. Write out a scripture – Handwriting God’s Word anchors it deeper in your soul. Try Exodus 14:14 today.

  3. Name your hurt honestly – Journal the words: “I wasn’t heard today, and it hurt.” Naming pain reduces its power.

  4. Choose one truth to hold – Pick one scripture from today’s readings to repeat when fear rises.

  5. Affirm your belief – Declare: “I still believe in God, in myself, and in the talents He gave me.”

Prayer

“Lord, help me release fear and renew my mind to embrace Your truth and love. Even in my faintness, I choose to believe.”
